Local Municipal Outdoor Water use Bylaws in York Region

 
All Regional municipalities stipulate that odd house numbers may use water outdoors only on odd numbered days of the month and even house numbers may use water outdoors only on even numbered days of the month.
Times for watering vary between municipalities.
Newly planted trees and shrubs can be watered for a period of 24 hours after planting.
Please see below for sod and seed watering.
 

Aurora

·         Outdoor water use is allowed between 6 a.m. to 10 a.m. and 6 p.m. to 10 p.m.

·         One-month grace period for new sod and seed

East

Gwillimbury

·         Outdoor water use is allowed between 6 a.m. to 10 a.m. and 6 p.m. to 10 p.m.

·         One-month grace period for new sod and seed

Georgina

·         Outdoor water use is allowed between 6 a.m. to 10 a.m. and 6 p.m. to 10 p.m.

·         One-month grace period for new sod and seed

King

·         Lawn watering is allowed between 7 p.m. and 10 p.m.

·         One-month grace period for new sod and seed

Markham

 

·         Lawn watering is allowed between 6 a.m. to 9 a.m. OR 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.

·         Industrial, commercial and institutional properties also odd/even and only permitted for three hours from midnight to 6 a.m.

·         Two-month grace period for new sod and seed

Newmarket

·         Outdoor water use is allowed between 6 a.m. to 10 a.m. and 6 p.m. to 10 p.m.

·         One-month grace period for new sod and seed

Richmond Hill

 

·         Lawn watering is allowed between the hours of midnight and 6 a.m. OR 7 p.m. to       10 p.m. for a maximum of four hours total

·         Industrial, commercial and institutional properties also odd/even and only permitted for four hours from midnight to 6 a.m.

·         Two-month grace period for new sod and seed

Vaughan

 

·         Lawn watering is allowed between 6 a.m. to 9 a.m. and 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.

·         Industrial, commercial and institutional properties also odd/even and only permitted for three hours from midnight to 7 a.m.

·         One-month grace period for new sod and seed

Whitchurch-

Stouffville

·         Outdoor water use is allowed between 6 a.m. to 10 a.m. and 6 p.m. and 10 p.m.

·         One-month grace period for new sod and seed
