York Region invites public to final community meeting for Yonge Street subway extensionLive webcast offers increased accessibility for residentsNEWMARKET – The public is encouraged to join representatives of The Regional Municipality of York, York Region Rapid Transit, City of Toronto and the Toronto Transit Commission (TTC) to discuss details of the Yonge subway extension, including the final alignment, station layouts, construction methods and more.

Background: Viva Phase 1 rapid transit runs today in mixed traffic in four key corridors. VivaNext, the next generation of Viva, will put the rapid into rapid transit. VivaNext includes the construction of 70 kilometres of surface rapid transit in these same corridors, integrated with the extension of the Yonge and Spadina subway lines north to the Vaughan Corporate Centre and Richmond Hill Centre.
Over the past several months, meetings and workshops with the public and stakeholders have provided invaluable feedback to the ongoing technical evaluation. Residents are encouraged to attend the final meetings to review final results and share comments.
