York Region teams with Oak Ridges Moraine Land Trust to protect 100 acres bordering Oak Ridges MoraineDonation of two property easements will protect area from developmentNEWMARKET – The Oak Ridges Moraine Land Trust (ORMLT), in partnership with The Regional Municipality of York, will be hosting a commemoration ceremony on Saturday, October 25th to thank the families of Doug Groombridge and Earl and Margaret Groombridge for the generous donations of two 50-acre conservation easements to the ORMLT.

• The donation of the easements, located north of the Oak Ridges Moraine in the Township of King, was made possible through a long-standing partnership agreement between The Regional Municipality of York and the ORMLT to protect environmentally-significant properties on or near the Oak Ridges Moraine from development in perpetuity.
• The properties contain a portion of the Provincially Significant Hall Lake/Kennifick Wetland Complex.
• The properties contain a diverse, regenerating and mature mixed forest with sugar maple, white ash, American beech, red oak, American elm, paper birch, black cherry and ironwood mixed with white pine, eastern hemlock and white cedar trees.
