The Regional Municipality of York to host Rain Barrel Sales event in the Town of Newmarket

Event follows very popular rain barrel sales promotion hosted in May

NEWMARKET – The Regional Municipality of York will be offering discounted rain barrels for sale on Saturday, September 20th at the Ray Twinney Recreation Complex in the Town of Newmarket.

The sale is part of York Region's award-winning Water for Tomorrow program, and follows the success of an earlier event held in May in the Town of Georgina, Town of Markham and the City of Vaughan.

When:              Saturday, September 20th

                        7:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Where:            Ray Twinney Recreation Complex

                        100 Eagle Street West, Newmarket

Cost:                $30 (cash only)

Rain barrels are an excellent way to reduce demand for municipal water and help remove the need to water lawns and gardens with treated drinking water.

There is a limit of one rain barrel per household. Quantities are limited and available on a first-come, first-served basis.

The event is for York Region residents only.  Proof of residency will be required (e.g. driver's license).
