Summer Water Conservation Notice for York Region ends

Record levels of rain help to avoid water ban
NEWMARKET – The Regional Municipality of York’s Water Conservation Notice, in effect since Victoria Day on May 19th, has ended.  The notice requested that residents follow odd day/even day municipal outdoor watering bylaws to help ensure adequate water supplies throughout the summer.

With help from a record level of rainfall and greater awareness of odd day/even day bylaws through the Region’s “Are you Odd … or Even?” advertising campaign, resident water demand was down across the Region.  As a result, no areas were placed under a Water Ban this summer.

York Region thanks residents for following the Water Conservation Notice and encourages ongoing water saving efforts throughout the year.
