York Region invites proposals for 2011 projects that provide services to vulnerable residents
NEWMARKET – The Regional Municipality of York invites community service agencies to submit proposals for funding of projects that deliver services to vulnerable and low-income residents in York Region.  Successful projects will be funded in 2011 under York Region’s Community Development and Investment Fund (CDIF).

In 2009, projects funded by CDIF provided assistance to an estimated 70,500 York Region residents.

CDIF funding is available for projects with clear and measurable outcomes that address identified service gaps.  In 2011, York Region will invest over $2.0million for projects in the following priority areas:

• Employment Supports – Projects that address barriers to employment and increase access to jobs for low income individuals and families in York Region
• Family and Children's Services – Projects that help prevent and reduce child poverty, promote steady employment or provide families and children with access to family-centred supports
• Homelessness Programs – Projects that help people find homes, prevent homelessness or help those who are in emergency shelters move to permanent housing
