Ground breaks for new recreational facility and paramedic response station in the Township of King


KING
- The Township of King, in partnership with The Regional Municipality of York and the federal and provincial governments, will hold a groundbreaking ceremony to mark the construction of the new Schomberg Arena and King Township Curling and Fitness Centre, as well as a new York Region Emergency Medical Services (EMS) Paramedic Response Station.
 
WHEN: Friday, March 5th
  Groundbreaking Ceremony begins at 9 a.m.
 
WHERE: Intersection of Proctor Road and Dillane Drive, Schomberg
  Township of King
 
PARTICIPANTS:
 
• Paul Calandra, Member of Parliament, Oak Ridges-Markham
• Dr. Helena Jaczek, Member of Provincial Parliament, Oak-Ridges-Markham
• Bill Fisch, Chairman and CEO, The Regional Municipality of York
• Margaret Black, Mayor, Township of King
 
Features of the new facility include a full size 68,000-square foot single National Hockey League (NHL) ice pad, four curling sheets, a fitness facility and an indoor walking/running track.
 
The ceremony also includes the groundbreaking of a new York Region EMS Paramedic Response Station which will be constructed alongside the new recreational facility.  Features of the response station include a two-bay garage which will be designed and built to enable improved paramedic response for the northwest quadrant of King Township.
 
This project is being co-funded by the Canada-Ontario Infrastructure Stimulus Fund, The Regional Municipality of York and The Township of King.
