Drew, J. Hulton, D. Kelly, S. Neill, J. Simmons The Accessibility Advisory Committee began its meeting at 4:04 p.m. on October 27, 2004. 1 UPDATE - COMMITTEE PROCEEDINGS
The Accessibility Advisory Committee advises the Community Services and Housing Committee of the following matters having been considered by the Accessibility Advisory Committee with the following action: PRESENTATIONS
1. Mary Rocque addressed the Committee regarding issues surrounding Multiple Chemical Sensitivity. Received 2. Cordelia Abankwa-Harris, Director, Policy and Program Support made a presentation regarding the 'Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act, 2004'. Received 3. Denis Kelly, Regional Clerk made a presentation regarding 'Procedure By-law Publications Standards for Council and Committee Agendas'. Received 4. Brian Drew, Manager of Specialized Transit made a presentation regarding "York Region Transit Complimentary Ride Policies'. Received COMMUNICATIONS
5. Denis Kelly, Regional Clerk, the Regional Municipality of York, dated September 27, 2004 regarding 'York Region Transit - Mobility Plus Service Implementation Initiative'. Received 6. Marc Gallant, Senior Multimedia Specialist, Corporate Communications Services, The Regional Municipality of York, dated October 18, 2004 regarding 'Addendum to York Region Graphic Standards and Corporate Writing Style Guide'. Mr. Gallant provided Committee with a brief presentation. Received 7. Wilf Morley, York Region AAC Chair, dated October 27, 2004 regarding 'Report Back from the York Region AAC Chairs Meeting, October 7, 2004'. Committee received the communication and recommended that the York Region AAC Chairs group meet every six months. OTHER BUSINESS
8. Committee member R. Hunn advised that the Town of Markham Accessibility Advisory Committee is investigating the possibility of creating an Accessibility Guide, with the funding participation of a local community group. Mr. Hunn requested input from the Committee as to the viability of making this a Region wide project. Committee requested that a letter be forwarded from Committee Chair W. Morley to all local municipal Accessibility Advisory Committees to determine the level of interest in participating in this potential initiative, following the Markham example. 9. Brian Drew, Manager of Specialized Transit provided an update on the upcoming 2005 Transit Customer Satisfaction Survey. Received 10. Committee Chair W. Morley advised Committee members of a Region sponsored pilot training session he attended with committee members B. Caiger and R. Hunn entitled "Just Ask".
