4 UPDATE - COMMITTEE PROCEEDINGS
The Planning and Economic Development Committee advises Council of the following matters having been considered by the Planning and Economic Development Committee with the following action: ELECTION OF CHAIR AND VICE CHAIR 1. Regional Councillor Scarpitti was elected Chair and Mayor Young was elected Vice Chair of the Planning and Economic Development Committee for 2005. PRESENTATIONS 2. Planning and Development Services 2005 Business Plan and Budget Bryan Tuckey, Commissioner of Planning and Development Services presented the 2005 Business Plan and Budget for the Planning and Development Services Department. The Committee received the presentation and recommended that the 2005 Business Plan and Budget for the Planning and Development Services Department be referred to the January 27, 2005 Council Workshop for further discussion.
3. Advancing YorkExplorer Project Progress Report A presentation was made by Rica Saporta, GIS Analyst, Geomatics. Received. COMMUNICATIONS

4. Joseph Cordiano, Minister of Economic Development and Trade, December 14, 2004, recognizing York Region as the winner of the Community Export Award at the 2004 Ontario Business Achievement Awards. Received.
5. John Gerretsen, Minister of Municipal Affairs and Housing, December 16, 2004, regarding York Region's report on the Greenbelt Task Force's recommendations and the protection of river systems. Received. 6. Catherine Doherty, Manager, Client Services Section, Environmental Assessment & Approvals Branch, Ministry of the Environment, December 22, 2004, regarding Regional Council's Resolution requesting that Hydro One Networks Inc. be required to prepare an individual environmental assessment under the Environmental Assessment Act for the proposed Hydro One Electrical Supply to York Region (Project). Received.
The Committee was advised that a letter was being prepared to clarify the Region's position that the legislated and regulatory authority for provision of electricity rests with Hydro One and the local distribution companies and that York Region's assent for constructing facilities is not required. This letter is pursuant to the 7. Robert C.
