3. Gloria Collier, Assistant Clerk, Town of Richmond Hill, dated July 20, 2006, regarding 'Funding of Collector Road Crossings of 400-Series Highways – Draft Regional Policy".  Received and referred to Staff.

 

4. Debi A. Bentley, City Clerk, City of Pickering, dated July 25, 2006, regarding 'Transportation Improvements, Markham Bypass to Morningside Avenue Link, Environmental Assessment'.  Received and Regional Clerk to forward to the Minister of Transportation of Ontario.

 

5. Linda D. Jackson, Regional Councillor, City of Vaughan [2.6MB], dated September 1, 2006, forwarding 'Petition and Objectives regarding Nashville Road Traffic Concerns'. (Original petition on file with the Regional Clerk's Office).  Received and referred to Staff.

 

Regional Sign By-law Election Signs

 

6. Paul Jankowski, General Manager, Roads, dated August 29, 2006, regarding 'Regional Sign By-law Election Signs' attaching an extract of Clause 4, Transportation and Works Committee Report No. 7 which was referred to the Committee's meeting of September 6, 2006 pending a staff report on issues raised by the City of Vaughan.  Received and referred to discussion regarding Regional Sign By-law Election Signs.  (Refer to Attachment and Item No. 7)

 

7. Committee heard a deputation from Ms Deb Schulte, Woodbridge resident, and Mayor Michael Di Biase submitted Minute #174, Council Extract from Special Council Meeting Minutes, September 5, 2006, City of Vaughan regarding Election Signs.  Received deputation by Ms Deb Schulte and Council Extract from Mayor M. Di Biase with Staff being requested to bring forward a report to the September 21, 2006 Regional Council meeting providing clarification with respect to this matter.  (Refer to Communication No. 6 and Attachment to this Report)

 

 

OTHER BUSINESS

 

8. Mayor Michael Di Biase stated that at the September 6, 2006 Planning and Economic Development Committee meeting a staff report entitled 'Highway 50/Highway 427 Extension Area Arterial Network Study' will be considered.  He requested that a report to include the terms of reference with a status report on the Pine Valley Drive E.A./Highway 50/427 Extension be brought forward to the October 4, 2006 Transportation and Works Committee.  Staff be requested to provide a status report to the October 4, 2006 Transportation and Works Committee meeting regarding this matter.

 

9. Mayor Michael Di Biase requested that Regional Staff meet with City of Vaughan Staff with respect to a request that Nashville Road be changed from a regional road to a local municipal road and Regional Staff provide a status report regarding this matter to the October 4, 2006 Transportation and Works Committee meeting.  Staff be requested to provide a status report to the October 4, 2006 Transportation and Works Committee meeting regarding this matter.

           

10. Mayor Sue Sherban requested that Staff bring forward a status report regarding the acquisition of lands and timing of the Ninth Line/Main Street Stouffville intersection streamlining project.  Staff be requested to provide a status report to the October 4, 2006 Transportation and Works Committee meeting regarding this matter.

 

11. Regional Councillor Tony Van Bynen requested that Staff give consideration to the installation of traffic lights in connection with the opening of the new No Frills store on Leslie and Srigley Streets and at Crossland Gate and Davis Drive.  Staff be requested to provide a status report to the October 4, 2006 Transportation and Works Committee meeting regarding this matter.

 

PRIVATE SESSION

 

12. Committee resolved into Private Session at 10:10 a.m. to consider legal matters and resumed in open session at 10:19 a.m. with no report.

 

 

The Transportation and Works Committee adjourned at 10:30 a.m.
