1. Hy Eliasoph, CEO, and Ken Morrison, Chairman of the Board, Central LHIN, regarding Central Local Health Integrated Network (LHIN). Received.

2. Honourable Stockwell Day, Minister of Public Safety, Government of Canada, dated October 18, 2007, regarding Contraband Tobacco. Received.

 

3. Joann Simmons, Commissioner of Community and Health Services, dated October 29, 2007, regarding Summary of Ontario Government Statements and Possible Implications. Received. The Committee requested staff to continue to monitor the Ontario Government programs and services and report back to Committee as appropriate.

 

4. Central LHINfo Source – Summer 2007. Received.

 

5. Central LHINfo Source – Fall 2007. Received.

 

 

OTHER BUSINESS

 

6. Heart and Stroke Foundation of Ontario Donation of Defibrillators

Committee acknowledged Mary Di Mambro, Assistant Consultant, and Paul Sutherland, Senior Associate of Hill and Knowlton, who were in attendance on behalf of the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Ontario, regarding a request to enter into a Memorandum of Understanding between the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Ontario and York Region, to receive a number of defibrillators which the Region would be responsible for distributing among the local municipalities. Staff were requested to work with the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Ontario and report back to Committee in January 2008.

 

 

The Health and Emergency Medical Services Committee adjourned at 3:55 p.m.
