The Health and Emergency Medical Services Committee elected Regional Councillor J. Heath as Chair, subject to his consent and Regional Councillor J. Frustaglio as Vice-Chair for the year 2008. [The following links open .pdf files of the Communications] COMMUNICATIONS 2. Honourable Dalton McGuinty, Premier of Ontario, dated November 23, 2007, regarding Children and Smoke-Free Cars. Received. 3. Honourable Margarett R. Best, Minister of Health Promotion, dated November 20, 2007, regarding Smoking in cars where children are passengers. Received with direction to staff to write to Minister Best requesting the government's continued consideration of legislative measures to enforce a ban on smoking in cars that have children as passengers. OTHER BUSINESS 4. Committee was advised that a York Region Paramedic was recently injured while on duty. Committee members extended their best wishes for a speedy recovery to the Paramedic and his family.
