1. Ward Janssens, Orgaworld, regarding a status update on the Orgaworld Ontario operations. Received.

2. P. Barrie, Municipal Clerk, Municipality of Clarington, dated May 27, 2008, regardng 'Host Community Agreement – Proposed Energy From Waste Facility'. Received.

 

3. P. Madill, Regional Clerk, Durham Region, dated June 16, 2008, regarding 'Durham Region Energy From Waste (EFW) Project: Detailed Business Case and Request for Proposals'. Received.

 

4. Regional Councillor J. Heath forwarding a communication from Linda Gasser, dated June 25, regarding June 24, 2008 Joint Waste Management Group delegation comments. Received and referred to the Durham/York Joint Waste Management Group.

 

5. Regional Councillor J. Heath forwarding a communication from Louis Bertrand, dated June 25, 2008 regarding Joint Waste Management Group delegation on June 24, 2008. Received and referred to the Durham/York Joint Waste Management Group.

 

6. Association of Municipalities of Ontario (AMO) dated July 11, 2008, regarding Waste Electrical Electronic Equipment Plan. Received.

 

OTHER BUSINESS

 

7. The Committee requested an update from the Inter-Municipal Waste Diversion Strategy Committee as to the progress being made on its initiatives at the  November meeting of the Committee and then at regular six-month intervals (May and November).

 

8. The Committee requested staff to investigate the options and implications, including financial, on removing plastics and diapers, from the Region's source separated organics program and that staff report back to Committee in December 2008.

 

 

PRIVATE SESSION

 

9. The Committee resolved into private session at 11:07 a.m. to consider the following:

 

(1) Environmental Services Department  Reorganization – Personal matters about identifiable individuals; and

 

(2) Solid Waste Disposal – Security of municipal property.

 

            The Committee resumed in public session at 11:30 a.m. with no report out.

 

 

The Solid Waste Management Committee adjourned at 11:31 a.m.
