The Transportation and Works Committee advises Council of the following matters having been considered by the Transportation and Works Committee with the following action:

 

 

ELECTION OF CHAIR AND VICE-CHAIR

 

1. The Transportation and Works Committee elected Mayor Emmerson as Chair and Mayor Grossi as Vice-Chair of the Committee for the year 2008.

3. Anna M. Knowles, Deputy Clerk, Town of East Gwillimbury, dated December 10, 2007, regarding 'Speed Limit on 2nd Concession, Mount Albert Road to Queensville Sideroad'.  Received and referred to staff.

 

4. Sybil Fernandes, Deputy City Clerk, City of Vaughan, dated December 14, 2007, regarding 'Traffic Operation at the Intersection of Dufferin and Centre Streets'.  Received and referred to staff.

 

5. Anna M. Knowles, Deputy Clerk, Town of East Gwillimbury, dated December 20, 2007, regarding 'Environmental Assessment – Reconstruction of Bathurst Street from Green Lane West to Yonge Street'.  Received and referred to staff.

 

6. D. Gayle Wood, Chief Administrative Officer, Lake Simcoe Region Conservation Authority, dated January 4, 2008, regarding 'Lake Simcoe Water Quality Improvement Program (LSWQIP) Funding of Septic Rehabilitation Projects – York Region'.  Received and referred to staff.

 

7. Mayor Emmerson submitted a communication from the residents of Bathurst Street, South of Kennedy Road, namely William Croker, John Hargrave and Wendel Clark, complimenting roads staff for their professionalism and ongoing communication throughout the complex project of widening Bathurst Street. Received.

 

 

OTHER BUSINESS

 

8. Bruce Macgregor, Chief Administrative Officer, introduced Erin Mahoney, who will assume the position of Commissioner of Environmental Services effective January 21, 2008.

 

9. The Committee recognized and extended their appreciation to Debbie Korolnek, General Manager, Water and Wastewater, for her fifteen years of dedicated service to the Region, and wished her well in her new position in the private sector.

 

 

PRIVATE SESSION

 

The committee resolved into private session at 9:56 a.m. to consider the following matters:

 

10. Private Attachment to Item D9 Commissioner of Corporate Services (Acquisition of Land, Various Projects) – Acquisition of Property.

 

11. Private Attachment to Item D11 Commissioner of Corporate Services (Expropriation Settlement, Bathurst Street, Township of King, Project 8063) – Acquisition of Property.

 

12. Private Report of the General Manager, Water and Wastewater – York-Peel Feedermain Design-Build Settlement of Contract Dispute Project 77300 – Litigation Matter.

 

The Committee resumed in public session at 10:40 a.m. with no report out.

 

 

The Transportation and Works Committee adjourned at 10:42 a.m.
