The Environmental Services Committee advises Council of the following matters having been considered by the Environmental Services Committee with the following action:

 

 

DEPUTATION                

 

1. Mr. Don Constable, President and CEO, Greenpath Environmental Inc. regarding sustainable building products using non-hazardous solid waste materials.  Received.

 

 

COMMUNICATIONS

2. Debi A. Wilcox, City Clerk, City of Pickering, dated September 23, 2009, regarding 'York/Durham Odour Control Facility and Southeast Collector Trunk Sewer Environmental Assessment'.  Received.

           

3. Erin Mahoney, Commissioner of Environmental Services, dated October 14, 2009, regarding 'Solid Waste Advocacy – Review of Policy Documents'.  Received.

 

 

OTHER BUSINESS

 

4. Copy of a letter from Bruce Macgregor, C.A.O., York Region to the City of Pickering, dated October 9, 2009, concerning the Southeast Collector Trunk Sewer Individual Environmental Assessment Project, York/Durham Odour Control Facility, was received by the Committee.

     

5. Regional Councillor Heath requested that staff lead a discussion at the December 9, 2009 Environmental Services Committee meeting concerning options for business operations of the Energy from Waste (EFW) Facility.  Staff to include the study on business model options that was produced by Deloitte and Touche for the EFW project.

 

6. Regional Councillor Heath requested that staff arrange a tour of a few of the Covanta facilities in the United States for members of the Environmental Services Committee.  It was agreed to consider this further at a future meeting.

 

7. Commissioner Mahoney confirmed that representatives from the Dongara Pellet Plant will make a presentation to the November 11, 2009 Environmental Services Committee meeting.

 

8. The Committee requested that a regular monthly report from the Commissioner concerning the latest developments on key issues within the environmental services portfolio be added to all future agendas of the Committee.

 

 

PRIVATE SESSION

 

The Committee resolved into private session at 11:32 a.m. to consider the following:

 

1. Private Presentation – York-Peel Feedermain

– Security of Municipal Property and Potential Litigation.

 

The Committee resumed in public session at 12:08 p.m. with no report out. 

 

 

The Environmental Services Committee adjourned at 12:24 p.m.
