The Environmental Services Committee advises Council of the following matters having been considered by the Environmental Services Committee with the following action:

 

 

PRESENTATIONS

1. Betty Disero, Business Development and Duncan McTavish, Interim CEO, Dongara, regarding the Dongara Pelletization Facility.  Received. Dongara was requested to gather and compile as much data as possible on emissions and test burns associated with use of the fuel pellets and to send this information to York Region staff and Committee members as soon as possible.

 

2. Erin Mahoney, Commissioner of Environmental Services regarding Commissioner's Update.  Deferred to the December 9, 2009 Environmental Services Committee meeting.

 

 

COMMUNICATION

3. Debi A. Wilcox, City Clerk, City of Pickering, October 23, 2009, regarding Southeast Collector Trunk Sewer Environmental Assessment and the Memorandum of Understanding between the City of Pickering and the Regional Municipality of York.  Received.

 

 

OTHER BUSINESS

 

4. Regional Councillor M. Ferri introduced and welcomed Ali Fatehzadan, the 5th Youth City Councillor with the City of Vaughan.

 

 

PRIVATE SESSION

 

The Committee resolved into private session at 12:08 p.m. to consider the following:

 

1. Private Report of the Commissioner of Environmental Services and the Regional Solicitor – Residual Waste Processing Update – Actual or Potential Litigation.

 

2. Private Report of the Regional Solicitor – 2008 External Compliance Audit Program Findings Water and Wastewater Facilities – Solicitor Client.

 

3. Verbal Update – Southeast Collector Trunk Sewer – Solicitor Client.

 

The Committee resumed in public session at 12:40 p.m. with no report out.  The Committee's recommendations on the above matters will be forwarded to Council for consideration at its November 19, 2009 Private Session.

 

 

The Environmental Services Committee adjourned at 12:42 p.m.
