The Rapid Transit Public/Private Partnership Steering Committee began its meeting at 9:06 a.m. on June 18, 2009.  Regional Chair Fisch informed the Committee of the passing of Regional Councillor Tony Wong and former Regional Chairman Garfield Wright and requested a minute of silence be observed in their memory.

1. Hazel McCallion, Mayor, City of Mississauga, May 19, 2009, regarding Metrolinx Regional Transportation Plan "Big Move #2" – Georgetown South GO Rail Corridor. Received.

 

2. Cheryl Tennisco, Committee Clerk, Durham Region, May 13, 2009, regarding Representation on the Metrolinx Board. Received.

4. Kimberley Kitteringham, Town Clerk, Town of Markham, June 9, 2009, regarding Leslie Street LRT Environmental Assessment (YRRT).

 

The communications from Donna McLarty, Town of Richmond Hill dated June 5, 2009 and Kimberley Kitteringham, Town of Markham dated June 9, 2009, were received and referred to staff to prepare a report providing details of the comments received at the public meeting held on June 10, 2009 and requesting  the local municipal councils to endorse and support the continuation of the Leslie Street LRT Environmental Assessment.

 

5. Bruce McCuaig, Deputy Minister, Ministry of Transportation, June 4, 2009, regarding regional transit in the Greater Toronto and Hamilton Area and key features of the Province's framework. Received and referred to staff.

 

6. John Howe, General Manager, Metrolinx, June 8, 2009, regarding Peterborough Rail Study. Received and referred to staff.

The Committee resumed in public session at 10:59 a.m. with no report out.  The Committee's recommendations on the above matters will be forwarded to Council for consideration at its June 25, 2009 Private Session.

 

 

The Rapid Transit Public/Private Partnership Steering Committee adjourned at 11:00 a.m.
