Making York Region Accessible

York Region has a strong history of making our services, facilities and programs more accessible for our residents and visitors who have disabilities. Explore what is happening across York Region to create a strong, safe and caring community that all people can be part of and enjoy.

Draft 2013-2021 Multi-Year Accessibility Plan

The 2013 – 2021 Draft Multi-Year Accessibility Plan online consultation is now closed. Feedback and comments will now be considered as the Multi-Year Plan is finalized and presented to Regional Council in June for approval.

 Accessibility Planning

York Region develops annual accessibility plans under the Ontarians with Disabilities Act, 2001.

Awards

The Regional Municipality wins an Excellence Canada - Ontario Accessibility Award for leadership in accessible customer service.

Accessibility Policy 
The Region's Accessibility Policy guides accessibility efforts across all departments. 

Accessible Customer Service at York Region 
York Region provides accessible customer service under the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act, 2005 (AODA).

York Region Accessibility Advisory Committee (YRAAC) 
York Region has an accessibility advisory committee that advises Regional Council and York Regional Police on making it easier for people with disabilities to use the Region's programs and services.
