| Making Ontario's Heritage Accessible |
 |
 |
To make it easier for people with disabilities to visit regional heritage sites, Planning and Development Services, in partnership with the Ontario Historical Society, hosted a workshop on March 6, 2006 entitled "Making Ontario's Heritage Accessible". The workshop assisted heritage sites, museums and historical societies to reduce barriers and increase accessibility. York Region was one of the five sites chosen to launch a toolkit for making Ontario's Heritage Accessible. Our York Region AAC Chair invited other local AAC chairs to attend this event that took place here at the Region. Other local heritage committees and representatives from the heritage community from across the region (i.e. museums) also attended. It proved to be an informative day and the partnerships developed that day will prove beneficial to enhancing accessibility in York Region's heritage sites.
