Co-Chair of the HSPB-YR John Taylor, Regional Councillor Co-Chair of the HSPB-YR Susan LaRosa
Thank you for visiting the Human Services Planning Board of York Region (HSPB-YR) web area. The Human Services Planning Board's mission is to improve the quality of life in York Region's many communities by 'developing and implementing system solutions which enhance community health and well-being'. The mandate is focused on two streams for action: building capacity in the human services sector and collectively advocating for timely adequate funding. Community engagement and public awareness are fundamental to this work. Our work plan will be based on actively pursuing these two streams of action. Whether it be affordable housing, education, healthcare, immigrant services, employment services or social services – 'human services' are absolutely critical to creating healthy communities where residents have access to the services they require through the various stages and events in their lives.
Since York Regional Council's appointment of the Board in April 2010, members have been collaboratively working together to strengthen the capacity of the human service sector. Some of the Board's initiatives include the release of the Community Collaborative Planning Guide: Weaving Collaboration into a Tapestry of Change, the updated York Region Immigration Portal, and the completion of the Economic Analysis of Human Services Costs to 2031 – Recommendations for Enhancing Human Services Planning in The Regional Municipality of York.
In keeping with its mission, the HSPB-YR's work will focus on making an impact to reduce economic vulnerability in the Region as we move forward.
Moving forward, we are confident and optimistic that the collaborative efforts of the HSPB-YR will continue to create meaningful change in the Region, and will help in achieving our vision of a healthy and vibrant community enhanced through inclusive, collaborative and innovative human services. It will, ultimately take all of us working together to make a difference!
Sincerely,
John Taylor, Regional Councillor Town of Newmarket |
