Keswick WPCP Expansion

Project Description: Phase I expansion will increase the plant treatment capacity by approximately 50 percent from the current 12,070 m3/day up to an average day flow of 18,000m3/day, which is equivalent to a serviced population of approximate 49,300. The phase I expansion project has started in November 2009 and will be completed by the year 2012.

Project Description: This work involves the planning, design and construction of a new elevated water storage tank in Oak Ridges on the site of the existing elevated tank and the decommissioning of the existing elevated tank. New 900/500mm dia. watermains will be installed on Bloomington, Bayview, Yonge and Vandorf.

YDSS Duffin Creek WPCP Expansion

Project Description: The Duffin Creek Water Pollution Control Plant (WPCP) processes industrial and municipal wastewater generated from York and Durham Regions. It is the terminus of the York-Durham Sewage System (YDSS) and is located in the City of Pickering on the North shore of Lake Ontario. In order to accommodate growth in York and Durham Region to the year 2035, the plant will need to increase its wastewater treatment capacity from 420 MLD to 630 MLD (50% increase). This will involve two major capital projects.
