Important family documents kit

During an emergency, you may be required to produce several documents, particularly if you are evacuated. The following is a suggested list of documents and information to gather. Store originals in a waterproof, fireproof, portable container or a bank safety deposit box. Keep photocopies of this information in each adult’s Go-Bag.

·         Birth certificates

·         Passports

·         Marriage licence / Divorce decree / Custody documents

·         Social insurance cards

·         Immigration papers

·         Health cards

·         Immunization records

·         Medical prescriptions, including eyeglasses

·         Wills

·         Work identification badges

·         Insurance policies

·         Bank account statements

·         Credit cards, along with company names and contact numbers

·         Contracts, deeds, stocks and bonds

·         Current photos of family members and pets for identification in case of separation

·         Inventory of valuable household goods

·         Vehicle ownership documents
