Clear out your clutter! York Region has been partnering with Goodwill for the past four years and Habitat for Humanity for the past 3 years, offering reuse drop-off events to residents.
The 2010 reuse events are still in the planning process. Please check back again for future dates and locations.
Your support will aid organizations such as Goodwill and Habitat for Humanity in helping others in need, while keeping reusable items from being shipped to landfill. There is no charge for your participation. Simply come out to a Reuse Event and donate items within your own community!
Here are a few organizations that collect gently used items year-round:
- Hold a garage sale. You can get rid of large quantities of reusable items.
- Place classified ads. They are reasonably priced and widely read.
- Make use of community bulletin boards. There is often space for flyers to buy or sell items.
- Consider local consignment shops. If you have a valuable item that you are not using, this is a great way to allow others to make use of it and make some money.
- Look at on-line forums. There are many opportunities to buy and sell items on the internet. There are also online organizations such as Freecycle that bring people together in your community who have items to give away.
