York Region's Tire Recycling Program

As of September 1, 2009, Ontario Tire Stewardship launched the new province wide scrap tire initiative that offers registered collector sites to consumers for disposing of used tires for recycling.  York Region has registered the Georgina Transfer Station and the McCleary Court CEC as collector sites.  This provides residents the opportunity to drop off used tires at these facilities free of charge.  Please note, that there is a limit of 4 tires per vehicle.

Business Information

Under the program, commerical establishments who currently use York Region's drop off locations are not covered.  In lieu of charging a fee, businesses are encouraged to register themselves as "collectors" with Ontario Tire Stewardship.  Business registered as "collectors" are entitled to free pick up of used tires for recycling and will be reimbursed a collection fee, depending on the number and type of tires collects.  For more information, please visit the Ontario Tire Stewardship website: www.ontariots.ca or by calling 1-888-OTS-2202
