Your Relationship With Your PreschoolerYou will find it easier to understand preschoolers since they use more words to express what they are thinking and feeling. When you take the time to listen, talk and play with children, you are showing them that you care.
Preschoolers want to explore their surroundings. Provide your child with a safe environment and simple rules. When you keep your child safe while they are exploring, they will gain confidence and courage to try new experiences and learn about their world.
When your child is sick, scared or hurt, comfort them and care for them. Many preschoolers develop new fears (for example, fear of the dark). Do not tease your child or make fun of their feelings. Take the time to listen to your preschooler. Provide reassurance, hugs, and kisses.

Praise your child. Let them know that it is okay to make mistakes. We learn from our mistakes. Tell your child that you love them no matter what they do. Try to respond to your preschooler in a warm sensitive manner most of the time.
