Parenting Workshops

Workshops on a variety of topics for parents and caregivers of children under the age of 18 months.  These workshops are offered at no direct cost and are available at various locations in York Region.  Parenting Workshop Topics - print version

Topics:

The Pressure to Be Perfect An interactive and supportive workshop where parents can share their challenges as well as solutions to deal with the pressure to be the perfect parent.
Attachment Parenting Early experiences help to shape the way your child learns, thinks, and behaves - now and in the future. Learn more about what you can do to make a difference!
Growth and Development Learn more about what to expect in your baby's first year and what you can do to help your baby grow and develop.
Infant Sleep Learn more about your baby's developing sleep patterns and what you can do to help your baby sleep.
Positive Discipline: Encouraging Good Behaviour Learn more about positive parenting strategies that match your child's stage of development, individual personality and needs.
Separation Anxiety
Does your baby often end up in tears or upset when you are apart? Explore healthy ways to handle this normal life stage of separation anxiety.

Understanding Your Child's Temperament Learn more about the emotional building blocks that affect how your child responds to life situations. Discover strategies that will help you deal with your child's unique behaviour.
 
Workshop Schedule:
Nobody's Perfect Parenting Program

Offered to parents and caregivers of children under the age of five.  This is an education and support program held in eight weekly sessions where a variety of parenting issues are discussed.  This program is free of charge and child care is provided.

Transition to Parenting Program

Provides support and education to pregnant and postpartum women and their families.  This program supports women who have Perinatal Mood Disorders, anxiety or depression, and who may be struggling with the adjustment to parenthood.  This program runs for 12 weeks and is offered at no direct cost.  Child minding is available. 


Healthy Babies Healthy Children

A home visiting program that is available at no direct cost, supporting families who are pregnant or have children up to six years of age.  Contact Health Connection for more information.
