When is a Beach "Posted"?
A beach is "posted" when levels of E. coli bacteria in the water are high enough to pose a greater risk to your health.  A "posting" is a warning that swimming in the water may cause illness. York Region Public Health advises that you do NOT go into the water when a beach has been posted. The beach posting will be removed once  E.coli levels are back to normal.

When is a Beach "Closed"?
A beach is "closed" when there are signs of hazardous or infectious materials in the water, or when there is a blue-green algae bloom.  Swimming in the water is NOT permitted when a beach is closed.  When the water is once again safe for swimming, the beach is re-opened.
