Eating on the Run

Whether you are dining out, preparing quick meals at home, or need a snack during your busy work day, you can still keep healthy eating in mind! For example, when dining out, choose a food establishment with a variety of healthy menu options; consider how foods are prepared and keep portion size in mind. At work or in the car, keep a healthy stash of snacks on hand to help with your mid-day cravings.  It's important to keep your body energized throughout the day!

If you are looking for a restaurant that offers a variety of healthy menu options, consider restaurants that have received the Eat Smart! award of excellence. These restaurants offer more choices in vegetables, fruit, whole grain foods, entrees prepared in a lower fat way, and healthier choices on their children's menu. You can also make special requests, such as salad dressing on the side, smaller meal portions or ask to have your meal prepared in a healthier way.
