Public Health Inspectors with the York Region Health Services Department's Health Protection Division provide a wide variety of programs and services designed to protect the health of the residents in the Region. They ensure compliance with the Health Protection and Promotion Act, and its associated regulations through investigation and enforcement activities.
The Mandatory Health Programs and Services Guidelines prepared by the Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care, outline the goals and objectives for each of the programs carried out by health units across Ontario. Services provided by the Health Protection Division are listed below and also include inspections of child care centres and long term care facilities focusing on infection, outbreak control and food safety.
In addition, education and promotion programs have been developed to assist and enhance services offered by owners and operators to their clients. These programs are in place to improve the overall quality of life for residents of York Region.
