
Risk Watch™ is a comprehensive injury prevention program for grades JK to 8 focussing on the eight major areas of risk for this age group. The areas covered include:
· Motor vehicle safety
· Fire and burn prevention
· Falls prevention
· Bike and pedestrian safety
· Firearms injury prevention
· Poisoning prevention
· Choking, suffocation and strangulation prevention
· Water safety
The program is taught in the classroom by a teacher and supported by the York Region Risk Watch™ Coalition. Members of the coalition include York Region Community & Health Services, Ontario Poison Centre, municipal Fire Departments, York Regional Police and York Region EMS. Participating schools are given one set of curriculum which contains materials on the areas of risk and a teacher resource kit with useful props for teaching the lessons. This program is also available in French.

Think First is a broad based injury prevention program for grades JK - 8, provided free of charge to schools. Areas of study include:
· The brain and spinal cord
· Pedestrian and vehicle safety
· Cycling safety
· Suffocation, choking and strangulation
· Recreational and organized sports safety
· Safety around weapons
The Think First for Kids program is geared to Canadian children and designed to correspond with curriculum requirements. This program is also available in French.
