Collaborations

The Seniors Program has collaborated with other organizations relevant to falls prevention and related seniors safety issues.

The Seniors Program is involved with the Bringing Awareness of Seniors Safety Issues to the Community (B.A.S.S.I.C.) committee, a collaboration of agencies serving seniors in York Region and Toronto. Each year, the Seniors Program contributes to the development and distribution of the B.A.S.S.I.C. Seniors Safety Calendar which is distributed, at no cost, to seniors in Toronto and York Region. Through BASSIC, special symposiums on seniors' safety are hosted with speakers on a variety of

topics including falls prevention, elder abuse, fraud against seniors, and Older and Wiser, a fire safety presentation for seniors.

If you have an interest in falls prevention for seniors and wish to explore opportunities to collaborate with the Seniors Program, contact York Region Health Connection at 1-800-361-5653 to request a consultation with one of the Seniors Program public health nurses.
