Car Seat Safety
Facts
· Motor vehicle collisions are the number 1 cause of death for children aged 1-9 years.
· A correctly used car seat will reduce the risk of injury or death by 75%.
· It is important for parents and caregivers to read the car seat manual and the vehicle manual to know how to properly install and use their car seat.
· Booster seats provide 60% more protection than seat belts alone. A booster seat works with the existing seat belt system to raise a child so the seat belt fits correctly across their shoulder, chest and hip bones.
· Children under 13 are safer when they ride in the back seat of the vehicle.
