Really Easy" Chlamydia Poster Campaign

pdf logo   View this document in PDF format

Chlamydia, often referred to as a "silent infection", is the most common sexually transmitted infection in teens and young adults.   It spreads through unprotected vaginal, anal or oral sex with an infected person.  Up to 70% of women and 25% of men who get chlamydia do not develop any symptoms, and therefore may unknowingly spread it to others.    If chlamydia is left untreated, it can cause serious reproductive problems for both men and women.

To increase awareness of chlamydia in young adults, York Region Community and Health Services is running a "Really Easy" Poster Campaign from November 12, 2007 to January 6, 2008.  During this period, the posters shown below will be displayed in the washrooms of selected bars and restaurants in York Region.        These posters are targeted at young adults and are intended to communicate the following messages:

·         it is possible to be infected with chlamydia without having any symptoms

·         a simple urine test for chlamydia is available, and

·         people can be tested by their physicians or at a sexual health clinic.

Chlamydia male
Chlamydia Female
