Prevention of Tobacco Use
Elementary & Secondary Schools
The Smoke-Free Ontario and Tobacco Education and Control Teams support York Region schools in tobacco education through partnerships with school boards, teachers, parents and students as well as York Region's Healthy Schools Team and Substance Abuse Prevention Team. Through curriculum-matched resources and modules, consultation services and extensive community partnerships, the teams work towards a tobacco-free environment for children and youth. For students to make healthy lifestyle choices, it is important that tobacco-related education be continuous and comprehensive from Kindergarten to Grade 12.
