Before You Leave

Careful planning and preparation ahead of time can help you to avoid becoming ill while you are away.

1. Call York Region Health Connection at 1-800-361-5653, and ask for a referral to a travel nurse. You can discuss any travel health concerns you may have, and time permitting, we may send you a package of information customized to your destination.
    
2. Think about any risks you may encounter when you travel. Risks will vary, depending upon your destination, length of stay, itinerary, accommodations, age and overall health. Take steps to protect yourself.
   
   • Get any required or recommended immunizations 
     
   • Learn how to prevent and treat Travellers' Diarrhea
