Did you know over 15 million Canadians spend approximately half of their waking hours at work? (Health Canada 2001) Research shows that employees in safe, healthy and more supportive workplaces help businesses keep a competitive edge. (Health Canada 2007) It makes business sense to promote health in the workplace and it can be simple and inexpensive.
By initiating or enhancing a wellness program in your workplace, you are taking care of your most important resource – you and your employees. A Comprehensive Workplace Wellness Program focuses on meeting the needs of your employees through a variety of activities. York Region Community and Health Services offer consultation and many resources to help you put together a personalized comprehensive program for your company. Services We provide consultative and support services on starting, implementing and sustaining a comprehensive workplace wellness program. The York Region Active Healthy Communities is funded by the Ministry of Health Promotion, the Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care and the Regional Municipality of York. Workplace Wellness is a focus area within Active Healthy Communities. Our team consists of public health nurses, nutritionists, inspectors, health educators, and dental professionals who provide a variety of comprehensive health programs at NO cost to York Region workplaces. The Workplace Wellness e-newsletters offer current health information and ideas for comprehensive workplace health programming. Education Services provide programming and resources on a variety of topics. The Workplace Wellness Networking Meetings offer current resources, research findings, best practices and networking opportunities for the York Region business community.
