As a homeowner, there are many simple things you can do: 

• Maintain your septic system
• Dispose of hazardous waste appropriately
• Minimize use of pesticides, fertilizers and de-icing salt
• Store fuels (e.g. home heating oil, gasoline) properly

If you are a business owner, you can also do things to reduce the threat you may pose to sources of drinking water. As a business owner you can complete a Risk Assessment and Risk Management Plan.
