(SARS) Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome, or SARS, is a severe form of pneumonia. York Region Health Services is working with provincial and federal authorities, other health units and community partners to ensure that cases of SARS are identified and managed appropriately. Please keep in mind that the risk to the general public of contracting SARS is low. Learning as much as you can about SARS will help you to protect your health and the health of your family, friends and co-workers.

People who don't have any symptoms of SARS but have general questions about the illness can call Ontario's Health INFOline at 1-888-668-4636 (TTY 1-800-387-5559). or visit http://www.health.gov.on.ca/. f you have symptoms of SARS or have had direct contact with a person known to have SARS, contact Health Connection at 1-800-361-5653 during business hours or Telehealth Ontario at 1-866-797-0000 (TTY: 1-866-797-0007).
