The Recycling Sculpture Contest was open to schools across York Region. It asked classes to make a sculpture completely out of recycled materials that represented the theme:
"Public Works: The Heart of Every Community"
Thanks to everyone who sent their great sculptures. The winning submission came from Fairwood Public School in Keswick.

The winning submission: Recycle Town
The winning class was invited to York Regional Council in May to receive an award from York Regional Chair and CEO Bill Fisch and members of Regional Council.

Pictured with the contest winners (back right, from left to right) are Markham Regional Councillor Bill O'Donnell (Chair of the Transportation and Works Committee), Richmond Hill Mayor Bill Bell (Vice Chair of the Transportation and Works Committee), Georgina Mayor Rob Grossi and Chair Fisch.
Congratulations on a great win! |
