Notice of Groundwater Well Testing and Survey, Faris Avenue
The Regional Municipality of York is reviewing the groundwater supply in the community of Nobleton, in the Township of King as part of the Nobleton Groundwater Resource Evaluation (GWRE) program.
In 2021, York Region completed the Nobleton Water and Wastewater Servicing Municipal Class Environmental Assessment (Class EA) Study, which recommended the development of additional groundwater supply from Nobleton Production Well 2, located at 22 Faris Avenue. To gather more information on the Nobleton groundwater supply system, York Region will be constructing and testing groundwater monitoring wells at the following locations:
- 13740 Highway 27, Nobleton
- 22 Faris Avenue, Nobleton – Nobleton Production Well 2 facility
- Highway 27 right-of-way, adjacent to 12650 Highway 27, Nobleton
When:
September to December 31, 2023
Impact:
- Impacts to water and wastewater services are not expected
- York Region will be testing the groundwater wells after construction by continually pumping water from the wells for 24 to 48 hours. During the periodic pumping tests, the equipment on-site can operate up to 48 hours. Every effort to minimize noise will be made
- Access to all homes will be maintained. Along Faris Avenue, between Wellington Street and Ellis Avenue, temporary drainage piping will be placed in the roadside ditches. The drainage piping may be placed over your driveway; access to your driveway will be maintained by installing a road crossing ramp over the piping
- The Township of King has issued a Noise Exemption Permit, #2023-042 for the groundwater pumping tests at 22 Faris Avenue.
- Staff will be on-site for the duration of the groundwater well construction and testing
