Staff involvement

  • Patrol Yard workers volunteered to drop-off and pick-up the plows at each participating school.
  • Staff members visited the school after the contest to discuss with students what they learned from painting, as well as give insight on how our plows operate and what training you need to become an operator.
  • This year we unfortunately had some bad weather during our contest and many schools called saying the rain was washing away their wet paint. Our patrol yard workers were able to "save the day" by heading to the schools and cover the plows with plastic tarps.
  • In order for the plows to be placed on display at the Open House, staff built “plow stands” to hold the plows in place. The staff added a padded area for the students to kneel on while painting their designs.
Staff present the Pylon Pete award for best painted plow.
