Education

  • Through interactive displays and activities the students learned and discussed the water cycle and how the Region acquires water from the environment, treats it and returns it back into the environment.
  • Staff from York Region taught water treatment to the students through a variety of activities.
  • Students saw interactive displays, demonstrating how easily water is wasted, which taught them the importance of conserving water and ways in which they can help.
Volunteers demonstrate how our water systems work with an interactive display.
  • Many of the displays at the York Children’s Water Festival were also present at Our Greener Side. This gave children of other grades and their parents the opportunity to learn about water conservation. The other activities and booths gave the residents a chance to learn about our services and the environmentally-sustainable methods used in our projects.
