Staff Involvement

  • York Region staff organized a committee to manage the York Children’s Water Festival.
  • A number of employees "stepped-up" to take on a leadership role. They were responsible for supervising the event and the students running the activities.
  • Prior to the event, York Region staff visited the volunteering high school students to provide them a better understanding of the services that we offer our residents and how we educate younger students on the importance of water conservation

  • Regional employees volunteered their time to set-up the festival on the weekend previous to the event, as well as take-down on the following weekend.
  • All of the displays and activities are built and designed by York Region staff. These exhibits are built and repaired on staff’s own time over a number of weeks prior to the festival.
  • More than 70 Regional volunteers offered their services to ensure Our Greener Side was a success.
