Year after year York Region establishes itself as
the benchmark of municipal program delivery. In 2002 the Region
received several national awards placing it at the forefront of
long term planning and innovative service delivery.

Professional
Planning Award
|
York, Peel and Durham Regions were jointly presented
with the Canadian Institute of Planners (CIP) 2002 Award for
Planning Excellence in Burnaby, BC. The Award recognizes the Regions
planning work on the Tri-Regional Strategy to protect the Oak Ridges
Moraine.
The Ontario Professional Planners Institute (OPPI)
awarded York, Peel and Durham Regions a 2002 Award for Planning
Excellence for their joint work on the Tri-Regional Strategy to
protect the Oak Ridges Moraine.

The Regional Municipality of York was named co-winner of the prestigious
Transportation Association of Canadas (TAC) 2001 Sustainable
Urban Transportation Award. The award recognizes the Regions
commitment to sustainable transportation efforts through the development
of its Transportation Master Plan (TMP), a 30-year strategy approved
by York Regional Council in June.
The York-Durham Regional Environmental Laboratory
received its Certificate of Accreditation from the Standards
Council of Canada (SCC), recognizing the Laboratory as a facility
that conforms to the requirements of IS0/IEC 17025.

For the fifth consecutive year, The Regional Municipality
of York was awarded the Canadian Award for Financial Reporting (CanFR)
by the Government Finance Officer Association of the United States
and Canada (GFOA) for its 2001 Annual Report: Here to Serve You. |
