GOAL: Provide excellence in leadership.
achievements:
Regional Councillor David Barrow was re-elected Chair for the fourth consecutive year and Regional Councillor Danny Wheeler Vice-Chair for the second consecutive year
Mr. Joe Persechini received a Community Service Award from the Community Living Newmarket/Aurora District for his volunteerism to the community
Mrs. Daisy Wai was appointed to the Board for two years by the Provincial Government and the Board paid tribute to Mr. Robert B. Callow for his nine years of dedicated service

business plan
GOAL: Implement a new business plan.
achievements:
The Board approved its 2005-2007 Business Plan which reflects feedback from citizens, community partners and staff

public interest agenda
GOAL: Communicate with our citizens about public safety issues.
achievements:
Citizens attended Board meetings to hear about crime prevention and education, policing in a multicultural community, youth crime, organized crime, traffic and road safety, protecting our seniors and police recruitment and training
Held a meeting at the Community Safety Village where representatives from school boards, the Children’s Aid Society and other community groups discussed education and safety issues and enjoyed a tour of the miniature safety village

embracing diversity
GOAL: Advance diversity.
achievements:
Increased the rate of diversity within York Regional Police from six per cent to 13 per cent since the Board’s Recruiting with a Vision program was implemented in 2001

making a difference
GOAL: Make a difference in our community.
achievements:
Reiterated opposition to federal legislation resulting in the decriminalization of marijuana
Renewed $10,000 reward in response to hate crimes and approved a $50,000 reward in response to a triple homicide
Provided comments on the LeSage Report to the Attorney General of Ontario and the Ontario Association of Police Services Boards
The Board’s resolution calling on governments to ban the purchase,
sale and distribution of Grand Theft Auto-San Andreas, a video game that depicts the injuring and killing of police officers, was supported at the Annual Meeting of the Canadian Association of Police Boards
  - The Canadian Association of Police Boards is advancing this resolution
with provincial and federal policing associations and the Federation of Canadian Municipalities
Contributed $53,554 to Crime Stoppers, Victim Services, the Canadian Crime Victim Foundation, the Police Community Advisory Council, the Herbert H. Carnegie Future Aces Foundation, the International Black Police Association Conference and various conferences
