This site has been re-designed to better serve all of our citizens. The redesign includes improvements for Persons with special needs.
These improvements reflect the Region's commitment to accessibility in its Vision 2026 and to the new Ontarians with Disabilities legislation.
Here are some current features:
- Where possible, colours of text contrast greatly with the background for easy reading.
- Combinations of red/green and blue/yellow were minimized for common colour blindness.
- Font sizes are easily increased. This can be done through the settings on your browser.
Features being phased in from this point forward include:
- Descriptor tags will be placed on every page. These tags give information about the content and graphics of each page. They allow visually impaired visitors using the Web reading programs to scan content.
- Where there are file attachments, executive summaries will be provided for easy reference and Web reading programs.
York Region will continue to improve accessibility features.
The following is a list of helpful links that may assist you with your navigation of the Region's Web site, if you are a person with special needs.
