King City will be hooking up to the YDSS over the course of the next five years. This will involve the building of a local collector system to hook up to the trunk sewer. The local collector will be built by York Region and ownership will be assumed by King Township. The trunk sewer will be built and owned by the Regional Municipality of York.

While the Region will be working on the construction of the YDSS, and the Township will be working on the construction of other concurrent projects such as road improvements, the hook-up is being conducted as a single combined project that will introduce service in separate phases.
