To accommodate growth, York Region is widening and improving Leslie Street, from Wellington Street to Mulock Drive, and St. John’s Sideroad, from Bayview Avenue to Woodbine Avenue, in the Town of Aurora, the Town of Newmarket and the Town of Whitchurch-Stouffville.

We recognize construction can be disruptive and are making every e ort to minimize disruption to those living, working and travelling in those areas, and keep all informed with regular updates.

Construction is occurring in three phases:

Construction along this section of Leslie Street began in fall 2015 and is now complete. Leslie Street is now open to four lanes.

The work completed includes:

  • Road widened to four lanes

  • Intersection improvements and new traffic signals
  • New storm sewer system
  • Watermain extended from Kingdale Road to north of Mulock Drive
