March Break is just around the corner - taking place Monday, March 12, 2018 to Friday, March 16, 2018 - there are plenty of attractions to keep you and your family busy in York Region. Why not consider trying out the first-ever regional subway transit system over the break? We’ve rounded up the top-three destinations, and by no means are you limited in choice!

York Region has grown quickly, from 166,060 residents in 1971 to over 1.2 million residents today. For everyone that calls York Region home, the story of this place is different. Travel our transit system, play in the area and share why you love York Region by tagging your photos #LoveYR.

The destinations captured below are an example of a few locations either within walking distance, or a short bus ride from one of the new subway stops in York Region, Highway 407 Station or Vaughan Metropolitan Centre. Their easy-to-access location makes them perfect for the out-of-towners looking for a day trip, or for those wanting to avoid the hassles of driving and parking.

  1. Reptilia –Take the subway north and exit at Vaughan Metropolitan Centre Station. During weekday rush, board Route 26 right from VMC and travel to Melville Avenue/Rutherford Road.
  2. Vaughan Mills (home to Legoland Discovery Centre) –Take the subway north and exit at Vaughan Metropolitan Centre Station. Pay your YRT/Viva fare and Board Route 26 right from VMC and travel direct to Vaughan Mills. Legoland Discovery Centre can be accessed through entrance four.
  3. Putting Edge –Take the subway to the Hwy 407 station and enjoy a quick ten minute walk along interchange way before arriving at your destination. Play longer, as Putting Edge has extended hours for March Break.

One child between the ages of one to five may ride free with a paying adult. Children under one always ride free. Travellers can pay their YRT/Viva fares using a PRESTO card, the new mobile app, YRT/Viva Pay or with cash. YRT/Viva Pay allows riders to purchases fares anywhere, anytime, through their smartphones.
