Other Business
19. National Emergency Preparedness Week
Regional Chair Emmerson advised that May 7-13, 2017 is National Emergency Preparedness Week and this year’s theme is “Plan. Prepare. Be Aware.”.
20. Infrastructure Week
Regional Chair Emmerson advised that May 15-18, 2017 is Infrastructure Week. The Commissioner of Environmental Services assured Council that, although there was extensive rainfall over the past several consecutive days, there were no bypasses from any of York Region’s facilities, including the pumping stations and the flagship plant which discharges into Lake Ontario.
21. Governance Review
Regional Chair Emmerson advised that the Regional Clerk has sent a letter to each of the local municipalities requesting that they provide their consent, or lack of consent by May 31, 2017 to a bylaw which would increase the number of members from the City of Vaughan from four to five.
